BGAA January General Meeting Minutes

BGAA General Meeting Kiwanis’s Park Building January 21, 2012

9:00AM – Welcome Visiting, food – provided by Andy Poole, magazine and book exchange

BGAA Business :

1. Four reasons people in BGAA: sell, socialize, learn, advance art community: Sell – Spring Show, Harvest Days, Socialize – quarterly meetings, Third Thursday social, Learn – Show, Thursdays, quarterly meetings (presentations, sharing art; add critiques, hands-on workshops), Community – Chamber, Show, HD children’s activity, CDM Services (more at April meeting). (Apparent equal interest in the three last items, less in the first)

2. Add additional shows: September joint show with MOSAIC at Gallery 360: Beth Johnson-Burger gave a presentation about the child/adult show, answering questions from members. A straw vote of participants was taken. There were enough members showing interest to add this show. Fall art bazaar in November/December – interest shown for Fall Show, not bazaar) Current shows: Spring Show & Sale - March 24-25 Harvest Days - 3rd weekend of July Studio Tour - July 28

3. Pat LaCroix announcement: Arts of Clark County, Clark County Arts Culture Summit cost $25.00 for the day with 140 positions available.

4. Linda Kliewer announcement: Clark County Arts Commission Meeting held the fourth Tuesday of every month at 6:30p.m.

5. Technology Presentation: Tom Wheeler gave a BGAA Website presentation using Photo Shop.

6. Guest Presenter: Michelle Allen gave a presentation of her art form and her road to becoming a commercial artist. She passed around catalogs of her art, personal art notebooks, and Moo Cards. is one of the sites she gave where Moo Cards could be done.

7. Audit: Andy Poole requested member volunteers to conduct a general audit. ( Michelle Schaeffer & Beth Johnson-Burger volunteered to assist Treasurer with audit)

8. Spring Art Show: Changes - silent auction, fewer cash prizes, Theme - (Tree of Life) must be one of three.
