BGAA Summer Social

On Saturday, August 20, 2011, members of the BGAA got together at the Kiwanis Club building for 3 hours to celebrate art.  We had a blast.  We quickly dispensed with the business of the art alliance and for almost 3 hours enjoyed a presentation by a fantastic quilt and fabric artist Melisse Laing, shared our art, exchanged art magazines and books and had an overview of our new website presented by Tom Wheeler.  This social event was the first of our membership gathering under the new "meeting" format.  It was time to change it up a bit and instead of our monthly presentations and business meeting, we decided to share our art with each other during a 3 hours social event, making our time together more focused on socializing with our fellow members, snacking on pastries, fruit and coffee and "just talking art."  Seventeen members attended the summer social and the event was deemed a success.  Survey results from the social event will be posted soon and it is our hope that we will have a much larger attendance for the next event coming in October.  Check back on this website for more information coming soon.

Yes, it was fun—and uplifting. I'm already anticipating the October social!

This gathering was just what I needed.  Seeing fellow artists and sharing with them was inspirational, informative and motivating.  I look forward to the next meeting and I hope to see more old friends and new.
