HOW DO WE DO IT?
Our specific activities vary from year to year. Through the years we
have participated in local art festivals, purchased art books for the
Battle Ground library, awarded scholarships to students interested in
the arts, judged local student art shows, and contributed to the
construction of the new library branch. |
 |
To raise funds for these activities, every year we sponsor a Spring Art Show
& Sale. This weekend event is a juried show, open to all residents of Clark
County, which features the best of local artists. Entries include almost any
medium artists use to be creative—water color, acrylic and oil paintings,
ceramic pieces, pen & ink drawings, kiln formed glass, jewelry, fiber art and
collage, wood carvings and metal sculpture.
Artwork juried into the Spring Show is judged by an independent art expert.
Awards are given for individual categories and “Best of Show”. Artists also
enjoy competing for the “People’s Choice Award”, voted on by all who attend this
free exhibit.
| In addition to the Spring Show, we sponsor art fairs at which our
members, as well as other artists in the community, have an opportunity
to offer their work to the public. BGAA holds monthly meetings during
most of the year at which we hear from speakers on issues of interest to
our members or learn from each other through demonstrations by member
artists. |
