Carol DeGregory-Scardigli - Solo Exhibit Second Floor Gallery Camas WA

The pastel dust has been flying around my studio as I prepare for an exciting new solo exhibit at the Second Floor Gallery in Camas, WA.

More info below.

My latest work is a dramatic skyscape, 'The Last Dance of Daylight'. Its panoramic size, 32"x16", and contrasting shades of midnight blue and gold reveal my passion for painting sunsets.

The creative process is truly amazing. I start with a  blank canvas - starkly white and somewhat intimidating. Bravely I choose my colors and begin the work. An image appears, big and bold, but lacking my original intent. With great focus my intention appears. Suddenly I put the painting away. Its going too fast, something may be lost!  I need a break. A fresh new day arrives and BOOM! success. Sometimes paintings come into being this way. I take the painting to my framer who adds their gift to my endeavor. Then I turn it over to everyone and each person brings their personal view to it. Its really fun.

The Second Story Gallery is in the Camas Public Library at 625 N.E. Fourth Avenue. The show will run through October 27th during library hours. The Artist's Reception is this Friday night, October 4th from 5 to 8pm. Over 25 of my original pastels will be on display. The library is also providing musical entertainment by guitar player and singer Caryn Jamieson. Food and hot beverages will be available. Its First Friday in downtown Camas as well with restaurants, other galleries and interesting shops staying open late to accomodate the lively atmosphere. Hope to see you there!
